Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Meat Sauce: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a splash of olive oil. Sauté diced onion and minced garlic for about 3–4 minutes until fragrant. Add ground beef or Italian sausage, cooking until browned (5–7 minutes). Stir in marinara sauce and spices, simmer for 15 minutes.
  2. Mix the Cheese Layer: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, cream cheese, and sour cream. Mix until smooth and creamy. Add herbs if desired.
  3. Layer the Lasagna: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Add lasagna noodles, half of the cheese mixture, and more meat sauce. Repeat until all ingredients are used, ending with meat sauce on top.
  4. Top with Mozzarella and Parmesan: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan over the top. Cover with aluminum foil.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake lasagna covered for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Check for Doneness: Insert a toothpick to check if it glides easily through the noodles. Let it rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
