Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare your ingredients by dicing the potatoes, onion, green pepper, and pickles.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the lean ground beef and diced onion. Cook for about 5–7 minutes until browned.
  3. In a casserole dish, layer the diced potatoes, green pepper, chopped dill pickles, and canned diced tomatoes evenly.
  4. Mix the cooked beef with the homemade Special Sauce in a separate bowl until evenly coated.
  5. Spread the beef and sauce mixture over the layered vegetables in the casserole dish.
  6. Sprinkle white sesame seeds over the top for added texture.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for approximately 1 hour, until the potatoes are tender.
  8. If not strictly Whole30, consider adding cheese during the last 15 minutes of baking.
  9. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, and garnish with reserved onions, shredded romaine, extra pickles, and diced tomatoes.
