  • 1/4 cup Honey or Brown Sugar adjust according to preference
For the Spice
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika smoked paprika adds a unique twist
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper reduce or exclude for milder flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric optional based on spice affinity
  • 1 teaspoon Salt sea salt or kosher salt works best

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Soak the seeds in a medium bowl with equal parts yellow and brown mustard seeds, covered with water and apple cider vinegar for 12 to 24 hours.
  2. Prepare the spice mix by combining paprika, cayenne pepper, turmeric (if using), and salt in a small bowl.
  3. Blend the soaked mustard seeds with the remaining apple cider vinegar until slightly coarse.
  4. Cook the blended mixture with the spice mix and sweetener over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes.
  5. Cool briefly, then blend again for a smooth texture.
  6. Allow to cool to room temperature before storing in an airtight jar.
