Step-by-Step Instructions for Sugar Plums
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the chopped almonds and pecans on a baking sheet and toast them for 6-7 minutes, or until fragrant and lightly golden.
  2. Finely chop the prunes, dried apricots (or dates), and cranberries on a cutting board.
  3. In a food processor, combine the chopped nuts and dried fruits. Pulse until finely chopped and starts to stick together, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the cherry jam, orange zest, and spices to the mixture. Pulse until well incorporated, about 15-20 seconds.
  5. Take portions of the mixture and roll them into oval shapes, aiming for about one inch in size.
  6. Using a toothpick, create a small indent on the top of each plum.
  7. Roll each Sugar Plum in coarse sugar until fully coated.
