Step-by-Step Instructions for Sugar Plums
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the chopped almonds and pecans on a baking sheet and toast them for 6-7 minutes, or until fragrant and lightly golden.
- Finely chop the prunes, dried apricots (or dates), and cranberries on a cutting board.
- In a food processor, combine the chopped nuts and dried fruits. Pulse until finely chopped and starts to stick together, about 30 seconds.
- Add the cherry jam, orange zest, and spices to the mixture. Pulse until well incorporated, about 15-20 seconds.
- Take portions of the mixture and roll them into oval shapes, aiming for about one inch in size.
- Using a toothpick, create a small indent on the top of each plum.
- Roll each Sugar Plum in coarse sugar until fully coated.
