Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by peeling, coring, and chopping the apples and pears into small pieces. Place the chopped fruit into your slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle the lemon juice over the fruit mixture and toss gently to coat.
  3. Slice the vanilla bean open and scrape the seeds into the slow cooker, adding the pod. Combine with brown sugar, cinnamon stick, ginger, cardamom, cloves, and nutmeg.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 6 hours.
  5. Remove the cinnamon stick and vanilla pod. Blend the mixture until smooth using an immersion blender.
  6. Serve warm or cool before storing in an airtight container.
