For the Patties
  • 1 pound Ground Beef or ground turkey
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • 1 medium Onion freshly grated
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 large Egg
For the Sauce
  • ½ cup Heavy Cream or half-and-half
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic freshly minced
  • 1 tablespoon All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Low Sodium Chicken Broth
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Dill fresh preferred

Preparation Steps
  1. In a large bowl, combine grated onion, ground beef, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, heavy cream, and egg. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into 4 patties, each about ¾ inch thick, and make a small indentation in the center.
  3. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat. Sear the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. In the same skillet, reduce heat and sauté minced garlic and diced onion for about 2 minutes until translucent.
  5. Sprinkle in salt, pepper, and flour; stir for a minute. Gradually add chicken broth and simmer until thickened.
  6. Lower heat and stir in heavy cream and dill. Bring to a boil, then let simmer to thicken.
  7. Return patties to skillet and simmer in sauce for 5-6 minutes until heated through.
  8. Serve the Hamburger Steaks on plates, drizzling with sauce and garnishing with additional dill and pepper.
