  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs Seasoned or plain
  • 1 tsp Salt Adjust to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Freshly ground preferred
  • 1 tbsp Dried Onion Fresh onion can be swapped
  • 1 large Egg Room temperature
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard Yellow mustard can substitute
For the Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil High-heat oil
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter Salted can be used
  • 1 medium Yellow Onion Diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic Cloves Minced, fresh preferred
  • 1 tbsp Thyme Fresh or dried
  • 1/2 cup Dry White Wine Broth can substitute
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Room temperature
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Freshly grated preferred
  • 1 tbsp Horseradish Adjust to taste
For Garnish
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Chives Can use parsley

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Patties: Dice onion and mince garlic. In a bowl, combine ground beef, egg, salt, pepper, dried onion, breadcrumbs, and Dijon mustard. Mix gently, shape into 4 patties.
  2. Sear the Patties: Heat skillet, add olive oil and butter. Once melted, add patties and sear for 5 minutes on each side, creating a golden crust.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the skillet, reduce heat and sauté onion and garlic for 3 minutes. Add thyme and wine, scraping pan, and stir for 2 minutes.
  4. Create Creaminess: Add heavy cream, bring to a boil while stirring. Add Parmesan and horseradish until cheese melts and sauce thickens.
  5. Simmer the Patties: Return patties to skillet in sauce, simmer for 5 minutes to heat through and meld flavors.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with chives, and serve hot with mashed potatoes or bread.
