Cooking Steps
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season chicken with salt and pepper, brown for 3-5 minutes on each side and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté diced onion and peeled garlic until tender and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add thyme and flour, cook for about 1 minute to thicken.
- Pour in chicken broth, deglaze the skillet, and simmer for 1 minute.
- Stir in asiago cheese until melted and smooth, adjust seasoning.
- Return chicken to skillet, cover, and cook in oven at 400°F for 15 minutes or simmer on stovetop until cooked through.
- For slow cooking, transfer to slow cooker after step 5 and cook on low for 4-10 hours or high for 2-4 hours.
- For a one-pan meal, add pasta or rice during the gravy step and increase chicken broth.
