Step-by-Step Instructions for Peanut Butter Sandwich Bars
- Spray a 2-quart baking dish with non-stick spray and set aside.
- Crush 2 whole sheets of graham crackers into fine crumbs. Layer 6 whole sheets evenly in the baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup peanut butter, ¼ cup softened butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth. Gradually add 1-1.5 cups powdered sugar until thick.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 cup chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons shortening in 30-second intervals until smooth.
- Pour one-third of the melted chocolate over the graham crackers, then spread the peanut butter mixture on top. Add another third of the chocolate, followed by another layer of graham crackers, and finish with the remaining chocolate.
- Sprinkle with crushed graham cracker crumbs, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour until set. Cut into squares for serving.

Notes
Even layers are essential for clean cuts. Use a warm knife for slicing to avoid messy edges.
