  • 12 count Hard Taco Shells Use gluten-free shells if needed
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Substitute with ground turkey, chicken, or lentils if desired
  • 1 medium Onion Finely diced yellow or white onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh minced garlic
  • 1 packet Taco Seasoning Store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce/Salsa Choose your favorite type
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheese Cheddar or Mexican blend
For the Toppings
  • 2 cups Lettuce Shredded
  • 1 cup Tomatoes Fresh diced
  • 1/2 cup Red Onion Diced
  • 1/4 cup Cilantro Chopped
  • 1 cup Sour Cream Optional topping
  • 1 cup Guacamole Optional topping

Method
 

Taco Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Arrange the hard taco shells upright in a baking dish.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add garlic and taco seasoning, cooking for another minute.
  5. Stir in tomato sauce or salsa and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Fill each taco shell with the beef mixture, then top with shredded cheese.
  7. Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and shells are crispy.
  8. Prepare fresh toppings while tacos are baking.
  9. Assemble tacos with fresh toppings just before serving.
