Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Combine graham cracker crumbs, melted unsalted butter, and salt in a mixing bowl until resembling wet sand. Press into a springform pan and refrigerate to set.
  2. Pour boiling water over the orange jello in a separate bowl. Stir until dissolved and let cool for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Blend softened cream cheese and 1 cup of powdered sugar until smooth. This takes about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Gradually mix the cooled orange jello into the cream cheese mixture. Add vanilla extract and optional orange zest, mixing until smooth.
  5. Whip heavy whipping cream in a clean bowl until soft peaks form, about 3-5 minutes. Fold in the remaining 1/2 cup powdered sugar.
  6. Gently fold whipped cream into the cream cheese and jello mixture until fully combined.
  7. Pour filling over the prepared crust, smoothing the top. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours to set.
  8. Upon setting, remove from springform pan, slice, and optionally garnish with orange slices or whipped cream.
