Preparation Steps
- Combine graham cracker crumbs, melted unsalted butter, and salt in a mixing bowl until resembling wet sand. Press into a springform pan and refrigerate to set.
- Pour boiling water over the orange jello in a separate bowl. Stir until dissolved and let cool for 10-15 minutes.
- Blend softened cream cheese and 1 cup of powdered sugar until smooth. This takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Gradually mix the cooled orange jello into the cream cheese mixture. Add vanilla extract and optional orange zest, mixing until smooth.
- Whip heavy whipping cream in a clean bowl until soft peaks form, about 3-5 minutes. Fold in the remaining 1/2 cup powdered sugar.
- Gently fold whipped cream into the cream cheese and jello mixture until fully combined.
- Pour filling over the prepared crust, smoothing the top. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours to set.
- Upon setting, remove from springform pan, slice, and optionally garnish with orange slices or whipped cream.
