Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 355°F (180°C) and prepare your baking pan by greasing it with butter and dusting it with flour.
  2. Peel and cut the apples into large chunks and toss them with a splash of lemon juice.
  3. Cream together ½ cup of softened butter and ½ cup of caster sugar using an electric mixer until light and creamy.
  4. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Sift together 1 ½ cups of flour and 4 teaspoons of baking powder, then gradually add to the wet mixture.
  6. Pour the smooth batter into the prepared baking pan, filling it to about the rim.
  7. Gently press the apple chunks into the batter for even distribution.
  8. In a small saucepan, melt ¼ cup of butter and ¼ cup of caster sugar, then drizzle over the batter.
