Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by gathering your ingredients: unsalted butter, icing sugar, all-purpose flour, sea salt, ground Earl Grey tea leaves, and Earl Grey extract. In a food processor, pulse the room temperature butter and icing sugar until smooth. Gradually add flour, salt, tea leaves, and extract, mixing until the dough comes together.
- Once your dough is ready, divide it in half for easier handling. Roll each portion into a log about 1 ½ to 2 inches in diameter, ensuring a smooth and even shape. Wrap each log tightly in plastic wrap and place them in the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.
- After the dough has chilled, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the oven reaches temperature, take the logs out of the refrigerator. Using a sharp knife, slice the logs into ¼ to ½ inch thick pieces.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Arrange the sliced cookies on the sheet, leaving at least 1 inch between each to allow for spreading. Place them in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 10 minutes.
- Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and let them sit on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
