  • 250 grams Ground Pork Feel free to replace with more beef.
  • 1 cup Red Wine Can substitute with vegetable broth.
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 400 grams Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup Milk or Cream Swap for almond milk or omit for a lighter version.
  • 2 Bay Leaves Optional but recommended.
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
  • Salt To taste.
  • Pepper To taste.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add the chopped onion, diced carrot, and diced celery. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef and ground pork, cooking for 8-10 minutes until browned.
  5. Pour in red wine to deglaze the pot, simmering for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  7. Add crushed tomatoes and milk, mixing until well combined.
  8. Toss in bay leaves, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  9. Simmer on low for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  10. Remove bay leaves, adjust seasoning, and serve over pasta or in lasagna.
