- Begin by rinsing 4 ripe nectarines under cool water to remove any dirt. Cut each nectarine in half, remove the pit, and chop them into bite-sized pieces.
- In the prepared medium saucepan, combine the chopped nectarines with 1/4 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of water or juice. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the fruit mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Once simmering, reduce the heat to low and continue to cook for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens and the nectarines become tender.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let the Nectarine Compote cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
