Equipment

  • large pitcher

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by boiling 2 cups of water in a medium-sized saucepan. Remove it from heat and steep 4 black tea bags or the equivalent loose leaf tea in a large pitcher for about 10 minutes.
  2. While the tea is steeping, peel and dice one ripe mango into small cubes. In another saucepan, combine the remaining 2 cups of water with the diced mango and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to break down the mango.
  4. Use a fork or potato masher to mash the mango into a smooth puree. Let the mango mixture cool for a few minutes.
  5. Strain the mango mixture through a fine mesh sieve into the pitcher containing the brewed tea.
  6. Stir in honey to the mango-tea mixture, adjusting the amount according to your taste preference.
  7. Allow the Mango Iced Tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill thoroughly.
  8. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice, pour the chilled tea over the ice, and garnish with fresh mango slices.
