Ingredients

Filling
  • 1 large Egg Adds richness and serves as an egg wash for browning the pastry edges.
  • 2 tablespoons All-Purpose Flour Helps stabilize the cream cheese filling; can be substituted with a gluten-free blend.
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar Balances flavors and enhances sweetness; consider a sugar substitute for a low-calorie option.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt Enhances overall flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice Adds acidity to complement sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Extract Provides a distinct almond flavor; vanilla extract can be used as a substitute.
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese Creates a creamy filling; opt for Neufchâtel for a lighter option.
Pastry
  • 1 package Frozen Puff Pastry The base of the Danish, providing flakiness; do not substitute with other dough types.
  • 1 tablespoon Milk For brushing to give a glossy finish to the pastry edges.

  3. Unfold the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface, roll out, and cut into two rectangles approximately 10"x5".
  4. Brush the edges of each pastry rectangle with milk, place in the oven, and bake for about 15 minutes until golden.
  5. Remove the pastries and press down in the center to create indentations for the filling.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture in the indentation and dollop raspberry jam on top.
  7. Return the filled pastries to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow the pastries to cool on a wire rack before glazing.
