Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Layer the sweetened shredded coconut evenly on the bottom of the greased baking dish and sprinkle the chopped pecans on top.
  3. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions, then pour the batter over the layered coconut and pecans.
  4. Combine softened cream cheese, melted unsalted butter, and powdered sugar until smooth. Dollop the mixture over the chocolate batter and swirl with a knife.
  5. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top of the assembled cake.
  6. Bake for 45–50 minutes until set in the center and the top is cracked.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the dish for 10-15 minutes before serving.
