- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Layer the sweetened shredded coconut evenly on the bottom of the greased baking dish and sprinkle the chopped pecans on top.
- Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions, then pour the batter over the layered coconut and pecans.
- Combine softened cream cheese, melted unsalted butter, and powdered sugar until smooth. Dollop the mixture over the chocolate batter and swirl with a knife.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top of the assembled cake.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes until set in the center and the top is cracked.
- Allow the cake to cool in the dish for 10-15 minutes before serving.
