Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Gather your ingredients and prep your workspace.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  3. Layer one sheet of puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then add ham, cheese, and optional mustard.
  4. Place a second sheet of puff pastry on top, press the edges firmly, and crimp with a fork.
  5. Brush the top of the pastry with the beaten egg wash for a golden finish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  7. Let the stacks cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then slice and serve.
