Ingredients

For the Bacon
  • 5 oz Bacon Adds savory flavor and crunch; substitute with turkey bacon for a lighter version.
For the Vegetables
  • 2 lbs Broccoli Florets Provides a nutritious base; you can use fresh or frozen depending on convenience.
For the Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Adds richness; feel free to use olive oil for a dairy-free alternative.
  • 5 cloves Garlic Offers aromatic flavor; garlic powder can be used as a substitute—just adjust the quantity.
  • 3/4 cup Heavy Whipping Cream Creates a creamy sauce; light cream is an option for lowering calories.
  • 2 tablespoons Cream Cheese Thickens the sauce efficiently; Neufchâtel cheese is a great lower-fat alternative.
  • 1/4 cup Chicken or Vegetable Stock Infuses moisture and flavor; both homemade or store-bought work well.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Essential for seasoning; adjust according to your taste preference.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fresh Cracked Pepper Essential for seasoning; adjust according to your taste preference.
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika Adds warmth and depth; smoked paprika is a stellar choice for a smoky twist.
For the Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Grated Parmesan Cheese A key ingredient for rich flavor; vegan parmesan can substitute for a dairy-free option.
  • 1/2 cup Grated Mozzarella Provides that perfect melty texture; provolone or a dairy-free cheese can also be used.

Equipment

  • oven-safe skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In an oven-safe skillet over medium heat, add your bacon and cook until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.
  3. Drain excess bacon fat, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Melt the unsalted butter over medium heat, add broccoli florets with salt and pepper, and sauté for about 6 minutes until bright green and tender.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 additional minute until fragrant.
  5. Pour in heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, and stock. Stir in half of the Parmesan and mozzarella cheese and paprika. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until smooth.
  6. Add cooked bacon back into skillet and mix well. Top with remaining cheese.
  7. Carefully transfer to the oven and bake for 15 minutes until bubbly. Optionally, broil for 2 minutes for a crispy top.
  8. Remove from oven, let sit for a couple of minutes, season with cracked pepper and parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

Cook the bacon longer for extra crispiness. If using frozen broccoli, follow package instructions to avoid excess moisture. For richer taste, layer in more cheese. Prep ingredients in advance for quicker meal preparation.
