Ingredients

  • 2 pounds White fish substitute with tilapia, mahi-mahi, or perch
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil for sautéing onions
For the Filling
  • ½ cup Onion, chopped consider increasing to ¾ cup for bolder flavor
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces Crab meat use fresh crab for gluten-free option
  • 3 tablespoons Cream cheese omit for lactose intolerance
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning adjust according to taste
  • Salt and pepper use to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic chives, finely chopped optional
For the Lemon Drizzle
  • 2 tablespoons Butter or dairy-free margarine
  • 1 lemon juice or 2 tablespoons

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Gather your ingredients and equipment.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 3–4 minutes. Then add minced garlic and stir for an additional minute.
  3. Remove from heat, stir in crab meat, cream cheese, Old Bay seasoning, and salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Place whitefish skin-side down on a cutting board, remove bones and skin if needed. Spread crab filling evenly over each fillet.
  5. Roll each fillet up with the seam side down and arrange in a greased baking pan.
  6. In a small bowl, mix melted butter and lemon juice. Pour this over the rolled fish fillets.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving warm, accompanied by lemon wedges and a light salad or steamed vegetables.
